Statement
When making paintings, I develop basic forms out of drawings; the forms bridge the gap between familiar objects from the world and abstractions. I place the forms into monochrome (often silvery) spatial fields, and build them up with very thick acrylic. The fields may be enhanced with improvisational applications of paint such as pours and skeins. The resulting paintings have heavy, sometimes body-like entities in ambiguous relationships within the flat, vaporous or intricate fields. The images and relationships in the painting may be suggestive or allusive, but are not definable. The painting is a catalyst for the viewer.
